The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced that it will be holding its annual Solo & Ensemble Competition on the weekend of the 7th & 8th February at the Howden Park Centre, Livingston.

The event is sponsored by Besson Musical Instruments and has sections for Slow Melody, Open Solo, Duet and Ensembles, which will be judged by two of Besson’s artists, Owen Farr and Tom Hutchinson of the Cory Band. The percussion adjudicator will be Sarah Naish.

The closing date for entries is 1st February, so if you want to test yourself against rivals then make sure you get your name down on the starting list.

Two days

The contests on Saturday 7th February are for Junior, Intermediate and Youth Sections with Percussion Solo & Ensemble, Brass slow melody, Open Solo, Duet and Ensemble sections on the Sunday.
