Platinum Celebration for Williams

20 years of Foden's success and service is celebrated by Glyn Williams on his latest solo CD release.

Platinum Celebration

Foden’s euphonium star Glyn Williams will celebrate the 20th anniversary of joining the famous Sandbach band this weekend, with the release of his latest solo CD entitled, ‘Platinum Celebration’.

Release

Set for release on the 17th January (the exact date of his taking up the role), it is the third solo CD of his distinguished career and features solos he has performed during his Foden’s tenure as well as some wonderful solos with his current euphonium section partner Mark Bousie and euphonium icons Trevor Groom and Lyndon Baglin

Enjoy

Glyn told 4BR: “It’s a measure of how much I enjoy what I do, the opportunities I have been given and the support I have had along the way that I’m still enjoying myself so much in the solo euphonium seat at Foden's some 20 years after passing my audition!”

He added: “This CD includes pieces that form the musical soundtrack to those 20 years, and has also allowed me to perform alongside some of my euphonium playing heroes.

My thanks therefore go to my current companion in the euphonium section Mark Bousie, to my brother Aled, and the amazing duo of Lyndon Baglin and Trevor Groom for giving up their time to join me as featured soloists.”

Expertise

Glyn also told 4BR that he was delighted that he was able to call on the expertise of many other friends, colleagues and master musicians who have helped him over the years.

“The recording couldn’t have been done without Adam Goldsmith and his recording team from SP&S, Howard Snell (who was MD when I joined Foden’s) who kindly agreed to provide the programme notes and to Mike Fowles for guiding the band through the recording process.

Finally, my heartfelt thanks to all members of Foden's Band — to those who played on the recording, to those who have come and gone, and especially to those who have been with me as friends (in fact one even made it to be my wife!) as well as fellow band members for many of those 20 years.”
