Sterling Musical Instruments has announced that former Black Dyke, Fairey and Grimethorpe Colliery baritone player Rob Richardson, has become their latest performance artist endorsee.
Leading exponent
Regarded as one of the leading exponents of the instrument in UK banding, the Scotsman has performed with numerous top flight bands in his career, including Foden’s and YBS — helping the bands to numerous Championship successes.
A graduate in Middle Eastern Languages (Arabic and Turkish), he also studied at the RNCM in Manchester, and has enjoyed a varied professional as well as musical career — from being an intelligence analyst, linguist and translator in London, to recently taking up a new post as Assistant Director of Music at Merchant Taylors’ Senior Boys’ School in the North West.
Fairey return
The former principal baritone player of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland and Great Britain, and an accomplished pianist, has now returned to Fairey and will work with Sterling Instruments in helping raise the profile of the baritone and to further developing its repertoire.
