Busy season ahead for SWBBA

There is plenty of contesting, workshop and even AGM action to look forward to in 2015 thanks to the hard graft of the South West Brass Band Association.

A busy 2015 looms ahead for the executive committee of the South West Brass Band Association.

The association will host their 17th Brass Workshop on the weekend of Saturday 14th/15th February with tuition in the experienced hands of Paul Cosh, Dr Chris Davis and Chris Jeans, and featuring a wide selection of interesting and engaging music.

Supported by Arts Council England, it is being held at West Buckland School, near Barnstaple, and will include an open invitation to everyone to come along and enjoy the workshop concert at 4.00pm.

Players wishing to attend the event are reminded that application must be made to the Association Secretary by 31st January.

Plenty ahead

The busy year follows with the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 29th March at the Okehampton Conservative Club commencing at 10.30am, the Weston-super-Mare Own Choice Contest on Sunday 17th May, the Exmouth Brass Band Festival on Saturday 5th September, the 69th Annual Championships in Torquay on Saturday 7th November, before concluding with a Trombone Workshop led by Chris Jeans on Saturday 21st November.

Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

January 8 • Following our promotion to the 2nd section we are looking for a percussionist to do a bit of bing bonging on the timps for the regionals in March. We are a lovely band - everyone says so - so please get in touch. Rehearsals Weds from 1930 in Putney.


Mid Rhondda Band

January 6 • Mid Rhondda Band are currently looking for a trombone player and percussionists to join the team. We are a friendly, welcoming 3rd section band working towards competing in the Welsh Area in March. We also have a variety of events booked for 2026.


The Marple Band

January 6 • Bb Bass and Tuned Percussionist vacancies to join our fabulous band. We are a friendly, ambitious 2nd Section band, starting an exciting new year.
