Danish cornet star joins Yamaha artist stable

Yamaha has announced that Danish cornet star Stanley Westh has joined the company’s stable of high profile performance artists.

Reputation

The principal cornet of the Concord Band and the Öresund Brass Band from Sweden, Stanley has also performed with many of Europe’s top brass bands and is a familiar face in the UK having played with the likes of the Fairey Band in the past.

His musical reputation as a solo and ensemble performer has been built on acclaim from fellow players, leading conductors and critics alike; helping Concord Band to the 2013 Danish National Championship title, winning the ensemble contest in AaMuk 2011 and 2013, being named Northernbrass.dk ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ in 2011 and 2010, and taking the main soloist prize at the 2010 Swedish National Championships.

Neo choice

Having tested a number of cornets, Stanley selected the YCR-8335 Yamaha Neo cornet and a YCR-8620S Neo soprano cornet.

Stanley told 4BR: “It is simply the best cornet I have ever played. There was no doubt of my choice when I needed a new cornet. The equality in sound and intonation just makes the job easier, and that is really what you want.”

March 12 • Back Row Cornet - due to a change in job, the band has a vacancy for a back row cornet. The band has a lovely atmosphere, and has regular jobs throughout the year as well as taking part in at least two contests.
