Yamaha has announced that Danish cornet star Stanley Westh has joined the company’s stable of high profile performance artists.

Reputation

The principal cornet of the Concord Band and the Öresund Brass Band from Sweden, Stanley has also performed with many of Europe’s top brass bands and is a familiar face in the UK having played with the likes of the Fairey Band in the past.

His musical reputation as a solo and ensemble performer has been built on acclaim from fellow players, leading conductors and critics alike; helping Concord Band to the 2013 Danish National Championship title, winning the ensemble contest in AaMuk 2011 and 2013, being named Northernbrass.dk ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ in 2011 and 2010, and taking the main soloist prize at the 2010 Swedish National Championships.

Neo choice

Having tested a number of cornets, Stanley selected the YCR-8335 Yamaha Neo cornet and a YCR-8620S Neo soprano cornet.

Stanley told 4BR: “It is simply the best cornet I have ever played. There was no doubt of my choice when I needed a new cornet. The equality in sound and intonation just makes the job easier, and that is really what you want.”

Stanley is a cornet player of the highest calibre. Highly respected throughout Europe, we’re really pleased that the Yamaha Neo was the right cornet for himThomas Lubitz, Yamaha’s European R&D Manager

Highest calibre

Thomas Lubitz, Yamaha’s European R&D Manager added: “Stanley is a cornet player of the highest calibre. Highly respected throughout Europe, we’re really pleased that the Yamaha Neo was the right cornet for him.

For us, the success of Neo means a great deal. Having been developed in Europe with some really great players, we’re so pleased that all the instruments in the range have become the first choice for so many artists.

Having artists like Stanley Westh, Kirsty Abbotts and Patrick Vergeres on board, really shows how well Neo instruments meet the needs of top players.”
