With less than a fortnight to go before the Butlins Mineworkers Championship starts in Skegness, it has been announced that the ‘Trombones against Breast Cancer’ initiative led by Kevin Holdgate has received a wonderful boost of support from American friends.
Students
Dr Ken Kroesche and five students of the Oakland University Brass Band will be flying across the Atlantic to perform at the event.
Kevin told 4BR: “It’s great news and wonderful support from Ken and his students. Professor Kroesche is recognised throughout the United States as a leading performer, clinician, conductor and teacher of low brass, so to have him join us is a real honour.”
More help
Kevin also told 4BR that yet more trombone players have signed up to play, although there is still room to squeeze in a few more!
Anyone, on any instrument who wants to show support can donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/Kevin-Holdgate/.
The funds raised will be donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign, through the Boobs & Brass organisation who have already raised over £130,000 for the charity.
