The popular Weston Super Mare contest will celebrate its 47th anniversary in 2015, with the organisers hoping to build on the support the event is now gaining from bands and traders.
Positive feedback
The own choice contest, comprising four sections will be held on Sunday 17th May under the auspices of the South West Brass Band Association.
Contest Administrator John Woods told 4BR: “We had very positive feedback from bands about the organisation and atmosphere created last year. We do however need the bands and traders to continue to support us with entries to ensure the viability of the event going forward.
With support from the SWBBA management team, I’m confident we can build this popular event in the brass band calendar.”
Mayor vote
The contest has even gained significant political support too, with Weston’s Mayor, David Hitchins, adding: “This is an important event for us and the resort, enabling us to showcase our auditorium, restaurant and bar facilities to band members and their supporters and families.”
It was announced that the judge’s for the 2015 contest will be Paul Holland and Steve Sykes.
