Sandhurst parade their new CD release

The Sandhurst Band is looking forward to their top flight return in 2015 with an impressive bit of musical backing...

Sandhurst

The Sandhurst Band has just released its latest CD, ‘Sound of Sandhurst’ (above) as they prepare for their return to the Championship Section in 2015.

The official launch came at their at the band’s annual Winter Concert in Camberley this weekend, where the band was delighted to report that plenty of supporters left with an early Christmas present!

Easy listening

The easy listening release aims to capture the growing versatility of the band under the baton of MD Ian McElligott, who has composed and arranged many of the featured pieces – from Glazunov to Abba.

Also featured is a trio of tracks from ‘Big Mac’s Little Band’ with trumpets, saxhorns, trombones and rhythm section with an array of Latin-American percussion.

The Big Band style now forms part of most Sandhurst Silver gigs, offering a mix of music designed to offer something extra to the audiences which they may not hear at other brass band concerts.

Worth it

A band spokesperson told 4BR: “Having had a very successful 2013/2014 in the First Section, it was our aim to capture that sound as a time capsule for the future.

Obviously any recording is a huge time and financial commitment, but on hearing the end product, it leaves you with a smile knowing it was all worth it.”
