The Flowers Band is putting the final touches to its preparation for an exciting end of year tour to Switzerland this weekend.
The Grand Shield and Butlins champion has been invited by Manfred Obrecht to perform in a brace of concert appearances at the Church of Herzogenbuchsee and the Abbey of St Urban near Zurich.
Looking forward
And despite it being so close to Christmas, it is a tour the band is really looking forward according to Band Manager Lee Downie.
“It’s a great way to finish what has been a fantastic year,” Lee told 4BR. “From the Butlins victory in January, through the Grand Shield win and our top six finishes at the British Open, Nationals and Brass in Concert, it has been a year to remember.
To top it all, our thanks go to Manfred for the invitation to perform in two wonderful venues.
It’s also a real opportunity to show a wider audience why we have been so successful in 2014 and to showcase our solo talents such as David Childs and Joanne Childs, who is making a welcome return to the band for the tour.”
Butlins defence
Lee added that the band is already looking ahead to building on their 2014 success — starting at Butlins in January.
“I know the players will enjoy themselves on this deserved concert tour, as in just a few weeks time we will be defending our Butlins Mineworkers title at Skegness.
We are determined to build on what we achieved in 2014, so the hard work never really stops, even for Christmas.”
