Foden's inspire by the Barrow load

Foden's tutors have been inspiring young players by the Barrow load after another great workshop event.

Fodens

Tutors from Foden's Band recently held a coaching day with 60 children at a workshop at St Pius X School in Barrow.

The event was led by Mark Wilkinson with Richard Poole, Neil Raisbeck, Sarah Lenton, John Barber, Stewart Baglin and Mark Landon working on a variety of pieces with the youngsters in full and sectional rehearsals.

Appreciative

Prior to the delegate’s concert the tutors performed a short concert as well as a question and answers session. The event, sponsored by the South Cumbria Music Festival, ended with the young musicians displaying their new-found skills to an appreciative audience.

Huge success

Festival committee member Angela Fryer told 4BR: “The event was a huge success and such an enjoyable day.

We always try to encourage local young musicians and run workshops like this every two or three years, and the delegates learned such a lot from the excellent tutors.”

2015 competition

The South Cumbria Music Festival is a competition held at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston in March, where the 2015 adjudicator will be Mark Wilkinson.

Angela added: “The deadline for entries is fast approaching and anyone interested in taking part is asked to return their entry forms before December 31st.

Forms, along with a complementary syllabus, are also available from all local libraries in Barrow and the 'Full Octave' in Dalton.”
