4BR has been informed that due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2015 Yeovil Entertainment Contest has had to be cancelled.

Season opener

The ‘Brass at the Octagon’ event has provided top flight bands with a traditional competitive season opener since 1978, and has gained a well deserved reputation for being both well supported and run, as well as offering a generous prize fund as bands battled for the Chris Palmer Shield.

Over the years the contest has been won by the likes of Cory, Sun Life, Leyland, Foden’s Desford, Tredegar and Flowers (above in 2013), who claimed hat-trick of victories this year under the baton of Paul Holland.

the contest will be reinstated in 2016 and I thank the bands who were due to take part, for their messages of supportPaul Armstrong

2015 cancelled

Paul Armstrong, Vice Chairman of the contest organisers Yeovil Town Band told 4BR: “Unfortunately, the contest which was due to be held on Saturday February 7th will no longer be going ahead.

This decision has not been taken lightly and we would like to thank everybody for their continued support throughout the past years.

However, the contest will be reinstated in 2016 and I thank the bands who were due to take part for their messages of support.”
