Swiss youth show X Factor title winning form

European champion youth band BML Talents wins prime time television talent show in Switzerland.

Battle of the Bands

Despite the struggle for British brass bands to find their way onto prime time television in the UK, it seems it has not been a problem for Brass Band Burgermusik Luzern's Youth Band ‘BML Talents’.

Battle of the Bands

The youngsters recently took part in a Swiss talent show contest called, ‘Kampf der Orchester’ – ‘Battle of the Bands’, which saw the band accompany a rising pop star in three consecutive live Saturday evening broadcast performances against different rivals.

BML Talents had to work with their singer in producing a trio of six minute performances, playing without music and with complex choreography.

Online vote

After the three shows the television audience was asked to vote online, text or by a special smart phone ‘app,’ for their winning ‘band’ — and much to delight of everyone involved, it was the European champions very own youth band, BML Talents that took the prize.

Incredible experience

A band spokesperson told 4BR: “It was an incredible experience for everyone. The amount of work and dedication it took from the young players was incredible and the response we received through our appearances has been overwhelming.”

They added: “We would love to be able now to compete, if it was possible, against the very best brass bands in European at the European Championships in Freiburg.”
