The latest World of Brass — 4barsrest.com Rankings show quite a few changes near the top following the latest spate of contests around the banding world, with Grimethorpe Colliery the most significant mover, up five places following its return to winning ways at the Brass in Concert Championship a fortnight ago.
Stavanger Brass’s victory at the Norwegian equivalent — Siddis Brass — sees it re-enter the top 20, while there are also notable moves for newly-crowned national champions de Bazuin (Netherlands), Lyngby Taarbaek (Denmark), Windcorp (Sweden), Brass Band Oberösterreich (Austria) and Murley Silver (Northern Ireland).
The other contests held since the last update are:
Pogson Bray Trust — won by Elland Silver;
Wansbeck's Entertainment — won by Fishburn;
NWABBA Rochdale Contest — won by Milnrow;
Wychavon Festival — won by Unite the Union;
SWBBA Torquay — won by Verwood Concert Brass;

The next update will be at the end of 2014, when Cory will be crowned the world’s number one contesting band for a remarkable eighth year in succession. Will anyone be able to unseat the Welsh giants in 2015? After the year Black Dyke has enjoyed in 2014 there might be a few people in Queensbury relishing the prospect!
