Shrewsbury Band recently performed to a capacity audience at the annual Shropshire Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance held at Shrewsbury Abbey.

The band joined forces with the Of One Accord Choir to provide music throughout the evening including a formal concert and Service of Remembrance.

Premiere

The concert featured the premiere of a new work for band and choir called ‘Futility’ by Karen Kirkland, arranged for choir and band by Shrewsbury MD, Steve Pritchard-Jones. The composition is based text by Shropshire poet Wilfred Owen.

Ethos

A band spokesperson told 4BR: “Supporting local events and raising funds for good causes is part of our ethos and we were delighted to be invited to take part in the Festival of Remembrance in the county town.”
