Young Lions set to roar

The young Lions Youth players are set to take to the stage for their annual Slow Melody contest later this month.

Lions Youth

The popular Lions Youth Brass Slow Melody contest will be held on Sunday 30th November at Sandbach School, Crewe Road Sandbach.

This annual event, now in its 9th year, is open to all band members. Each entrant will receive an adjudicators report and a certificate and there will be a trophy for the winner of each section.

Encouragement

There are sections for all ages and abilities and the aim is to give everyone constructive feedback and encouragement to improve their slow playing ability.

A spokesperson told 4BR: “There are sections for all ages and for each of the three bands that make up the organisation; Beginner, Junior and Youth.

New last year was an open section for players to demonstrate a wide range of musical ability, and following its success it will feature once again. There are entries featuring piano, cello, drums, guitar and vocals.”

Concert conclusion

The contest will start at 9.30am and results will be announced and awards presented at the end of each session.

The day will conclude with a concert at 6.00pm featuring all three Lions Youth Brass Bands and is open to everyone.
