Bodmin Town Band has been enjoying a fine second half to the 2014 contesting season after notching up their third consecutive victory in the Second Section.
Bugle
The first came in June when the Cornish band won at the West of England Bandsman Festival in Bugle (above) with their performance of 'Penlee', whilst three months later they topped the results table at the Exmouth Entertainment Contest.
The latest success came at the recent South West Brass Band Association Contest in Torquay, where their performance of 'Rhapsody in Brass' by Dean Goffin under the baton of John Maines saw them claim yet another first prize.
To add to the band's delight, solo horn player Jane Whitehead also took the ‘Best Instrumentalist’ award.

Worked hard
A spokesperson told 4BR: "The contest at Torquay has been the true highlight of the year as the standard of the contest was very high. To finish 2014 with a hat-trick of victories is fantastic.
The band has worked very hard under John Maines, and we are very lucky to have such a highly respected figure within the brass band world leading from the front.
The band aims to continue to improve and we are sure the many youngsters now playing with us will provide long term success for band."
