New signings at Oxford Cherwell Brass

Its been a great year for Oxford Cherwell Brass after making its contesting debut in March...

Oxford Cherwell

It's been a busy few months for Oxford Cherwell Band since making its competitive debut in March at the London & Southern Counties Regional Championship in Stevenage.

New players

A number of new players have now joined the ranks, with Max Carter arriving from City of Oxford on cornet alongside Helen Forey and Paul Wetton who joined after long breaks from banding on horn and euphonium respectively.

Andy Morrison has come in on Eb bass alongside Dave Bate, who made the move from Kidlington on BBb bass to further strengthen the tuba section, whilst Craig Thomas and Daniel Moore joined from Ammanford and Poulton-le-Fylde on euphonium.

Finding seven new players has been a fantastic bonus for us in such a short space of time, and all have played a big part in our two recent contests at Porthcawl and WychavonMD, Terry Brotherhood

Satisfying

MD Terry Brotherhood told 4BR: "It's been a very satisfying few months. Things were a bit touch and go at the end of last year, but we have gone from strength to strength since January.

Finding seven new players has been a fantastic bonus for us in such a short space of time, and all have played a big part in our two recent contests at Porthcawl and Wychavon.

We can now look forward to the Leicester contest and preparing for the Area Championship next year as a much stronger band."
