The Burnham & Highbridge Band has informed 4BR of the death of their long serving MD David Fisher.
David, who had suffered ill health for a number of years, passed away on Saturday 25th October at home with his wife Pam at his side.
Career
Taught to play the cornet at the age of 11 with Chipping Campden Band, he later joined the Band of the Royal Horse Guards. He was posted to the Royal Military School of Music and studied tuba with Charles Brewer.
He subsequently enjoyed a ten year stint with Yorkley Onward Band as solo euphonium and a further ten years spell with the Band of the Hampshire Constabulary as solo euphonium and assistant musical director.
Respected
He directed Weston Super Mare Concert for three highly successful years before taking over as MD at Burnham & Highbridge in 2006, developing them into a busy and respected concert band.
David remained an active euphonium player until only a few weeks ago, playing for both Yeovil Concert Band and Worle Wind Band.

Funeral details
The funeral will take place Banwell Church on Thursday 6th November at 11.45am followed at Worle Crematorium at 12.45pm. Burnham & Highbridge Band will play during the service.
