The Emley Band is enjoying a busy autumn season with a number of new signings settling well into the ranks.
During the summer Chairman, Andy Horton moved to Unite the Union Band, and although Emley were very sad to see him go, he’s already been back helping out in concerts.
Missed
Andrew had been at Emley over five years, playing back row, bumper-up and leading the line for 18 months on the end chair.
Emley MD Garry Hallas told 4BR: “We’ll miss Andy's playing, experience and bandsmanship greatly. He’s such a hard guy to replace."
New players
However, moves have already seen Kit Biggins coming in on assistant principal cornet, and Lauren Smith on second cornet.
Meanwhile, Cameron Chapman has moved up to the principal cornet seat — after joining the band on third cornet in 2012, whilst at the other end of the band there are two new BBb bass players in Tim Freebury and Jude Hartley.
Veteran Alan Kaye moves over to Eb bass, with the playing seats filled with the return of Roger Starkey on second baritone.
Everyone is working hard at the moment, and we have been putting on some great concerts and are getting stuck in to a few contestsMD, Garry Hallas
Working hard
Garry added: “We’ve added some great new players to our ranks this summer, and are looking forward to bedding in the new team.
