David Childs will be racking up the musical air miles over the next few weeks with high profile solo appearances to go alongside his Danish contest conducting debut.
Swiss start
This Friday he will be in Switzerland appearing as guest soloist with Brass Band Treize Etoiles at Salle Polyvante Chateauneuf-Conthey, before flying back for a brace of performances on Saturday and Sunday with the Manchester Concert Orchestra, performing the Karl Jenkins ‘Euphonium Concerto’ at Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
With just enough time to spend with the family back in Wales, he then departs for Denmark on Monday to work with the Lyngby Taarbaek Band ahead of the Danish National Championships the following week, where the set work will be the former British Open set work, ‘Arabian Nights’ by Stephen Roberts.
Interest
He told 4BR: "It’s been a very busy lately, with a great deal of interest created by the release of ‘The Symphonic Euphonium’ CD.
It’s always a real pleasure to visit Switzerland and play there, whilst the opportunity to perform the Karl Jenkins ‘Concerto’, not once, but twice with the Manchester Concert Orchestra is a real honour."

Rest
He added: "All that, and I’m really looking forward to return to Denmark to conduct Lyngby Taarbaek at their National Championships. Perhaps I’ll get a bit of a rest after that!"
