Unite the Union (City of Sheffield) Band has announced a number of new signings ahead of the final leg of the 2014 contesting season.

Andrew Horton joins on the back row from Emley, Maria Beazer takes up the flugel horn role from Strata, and Neil Twist, lately of Barnsley Brass, takes over the position of bass trombone.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band is delighted to welcome these experienced players who have already played their part in our recent contest successes gaining a creditable fourth place at the Doc Martin contest in Middlesbrough and a podium finish at Bolsover."
