Extra players at Sale

Sale Brass has welcomed a number of new signings ahead of a busy contesting season.

New signings

Sale Brass has announced some personnel changes in time for the forthcoming contest season.

Signings

Daisy O’Dell joins on cornet from University of Warwick Brass after recently moving to the area, whilst Robert Greaves comes in on cornet. Mary Waudby, who has previously played for Bollington, rounds off the trio of cornet signings.

Meanwhile, Nicola Murray joins from Stalybridge Old on flugel, after gaining considerable top level experience playing cornet with YBS and Milnrow. Before leaving Stalybridge, Nicola will stand in for Sale’s principal cornet player Simon Taylor at the forthcoming Rochdale Contest.

Lauren Ash, whose father Steve plays soprano in the band, joins on solo baritone. She previously played for the RAF Lossiemouth Voluntary and is currently studying at the University of Manchester.

Welcome

MD Josh Hughes told 4BR: "We would like to welcome all the new players and look forward to the new line-up making its first appearance at Butlins Contest in January 2015.

These five bring a wealth of experience and ability and I feel sure that they will prove themselves to be valuable additions to the team."

Goodbyes

The band has also said goodbye to Victoria Kenworthy who has left to return to Boarshurst Silver, whilst Harry Aylott has begun his studies at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

Mike Welch recently made the decision to retire from playing after giving 12 years of outstanding service to the band.

Thanks

Josh added: "Sale Brass would like to thank these departing players for their service and wish them all the best in their future endeavours."
