Chris Waters, the ‘brains’ behind the unique Ray Farr ‘Signature’ flugel horn and cornet, is set to make a second appearance at the Royal Albert Hall this October — five years after he was last feted on its famous stage.
Teacher of the Year
Chris first appeared at the iconic venue in 2009 to accept his award as Classic FM ‘UK Music Teacher of the Year’, and he returns this time to showcase the much vaunted Ray Farr Signature products.
Despite having no background in sales, the instruments have become a ‘must have’ for serious players, who are completely bowled over by the unique characteristics of the instruments he has designed.
Speak to people
He told 4BR: "I just speak to people about what I’ve learned about them from my experience as an acoustic engineer, musician and music teacher.
When they play them they simply find out for themselves just what they have to offer. I don’t have to do anything more!"

Special appearance
It is also rumoured that ‘Baaaarry the Sheep’, who is an integral part of Chris’s award winning teaching programme, and also part of the ABRSM Trumpet Grade 2, may or may not make an appearance too at the Nationals — having done so when accepting Chris’s award at the Classic FM ‘UK Music Teacher of the Year’ event.
