The forthcoming Bolsover Festival of Brass is proving to be as successful as ever with 45 bands now conformed as being entered for the event.
Entertainment
Saturday 4th October will see the traditional Bolsover Charity Entertainment Contest commencing at 7.00pm at Heritage High School in Clowne.
This year the contest will feature Boobs & Brass Yorkshire, Thoresby Re-union Band and Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Band.

Charity support
The two charities being supported at this year’s Bolsover Festival of Brass are the British Lung Foundation and Breast Cancer Research.
A Festival spokesperson told 4BR: "Graham O’Connor who passed away on 5th December last year was diagnosed with Cryptogenic Fibrosis Alveolitis, a progressive lung disease that resulted in a double lung transplant."
Wish
They added: "Graham was one of this country’s leading brass band players, conductors and adjudicators, and due to the extensive treatment he received from his first diagnosis it was the wish of his family that the charity they would like to support from the event the British Lung Foundation.
Graham had a long association with the Bolsover Festival of Brass as a performer and will be missed at this event and many others."
Breast Cancer
For the third year in succession the Festival has also nominated to donate to Breast Cancer Research.
The spokesperson added: "Boobs & Brass Yorkshire is competing and it seemed fitting therefore that their charity be one that was supported."
Contest day
Bolsover Festival of Brass will also be taking place at Heritage High School on the Sunday 5th October commencing at 10.00am.
42 bands have entered on the Sunday which will be an exciting challenge for the adjudicators Stephen Roberts, Brett Baker and Mike Kilroy.
