Bond gets Grant aid to help youth

The youngsters of the Severn Tunnel Band will be getting some musical help from American euphonium star Grant Jameson.

Severn Tunnel

The Severn Tunnel Band from South Wales is looking forward to working with BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Finalist, Grant Jameson later this month.

Teaming up

After recently securing the position of Principal Euphonium at Woodfalls Band, Grant will work with the band over a number of nights, providing advice and support to their younger players before teaming up to perform as a featured soloist in a special concert.

Great

MD Christopher Bond told 4BR: "It will be great for the band to work with Grant and I'm excited about the energy and enthusiasm he will show everyone, especially our younger members."

Sadly missed

The event comes at a difficult time for the band, after recently losing long-standing member Ken Monelle, involved in the band for 60 years.

His life membership from both the band and the South East Wales Brass Band Association was a small recognition of his continuous dedication and support to brass banding for over half a decade.

The band will also be dedicating a special piece to Ken at the concert.
