Kirklees add to ensemble spirit for Canal Festival

A new musical ensemble from publishers Kirklees Music has made a bit of a splash...

Kirklees Music Brass

The recent Brighouse Canal Festival and weekend Street Market was a big success with non-stop music over the two days.

Brass ensemble

Flying the banding flag was local brass ensemble, Kirklees Music Brass, which has grown out of Kirklees Music, the well known music publishing company, which next month celebrates thirty years in business.

The charity fund-raising group performs regularly in the town supporting the famous Brighouse Lions Festival of Brass, which this year celebrated fifteen years since its inception.

This year it made a nice big donation to the fabulous Boobs & Brass who were the guests in the gala concert.

Further appearances

Further appearances for KMB are planned this year and also at next year’s Lions Festival, which will be a three day Festival, with Lake Wobegon Brass Band from the U.S.A. featuring in the gala concert.

The Festival goes from strength to strength and always has a full entry of twenty-six bands that will perform on the first weekend in July.
