Johnson tenure to end at Aldbourne

The highly successful musical partnership between conductor David Johnson and the Aldbourne Band is to come to an end after four years.

Aldbourne

After four highly successful years at the helm, 4BR has been informed that the musical partnership between David Johnson and the Aldbourne Band is ending.

Close

During his tenure the MD led the West of England band from the First Section to the brink of the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall — winning the First Section National Championship of Great Britain title along the way in 2011.

More recently the band just missed out on their place at Albert Hall with a brace of third place finishes at Torquay, whilst they also came tantalisingly close to a first appearance at the British Open when they came third at the Grand Shield in 2013.

Greatly missed

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It has been a fantastic four years and David will be greatly missed by players and supporters alike. Under him we have gained the taste for success and are looking forward to working with other conductors to further those impressive achievements.

However, we are sure that the links forged with David will continue into the future."

Last engagements

David's last concert engagement will take place later this month in a concert with the Military Wives Choir, whilst he will also direct the band on a forthcoming Conducting Course in October.
