Loxley Silver Band has just gone into the recording studio to record the backing track for a new CD by the folk-rock band ‘Love Street’.
Love Street (above) approached Loxley to assist them on this project which draws together several musical talents in tribute to the famous Sheffield Pals Regiment and those that lost their lives in the First World War — and particularly the date of 1st July 1916.
Barry arrangement
Also involved in the project is composer Darrol Barry who has prepared the brass band arrangement for the band.
‘Love Street’ is a 5-piece band lead by multi-instrumentalist Jules Clark, based in Cornwall, and named after Love Street in Sheffield, in tribute to the founder’s late brother who was a musician there. The band has been gaining considerable recognition and has recently released their debut EP, ‘Moving On’.
Own story
Band member Jules Clark told 4BR: "For us the piece has real energy, emotion and anger — but we will let it tell its own story and those of the Sheffield Pals and their 19,000 colleagues that lost their lives on the morning of 1st July 1916."

Great honour
Loxley Silver Musical Director, Lee Dunkley, said: "We are so excited to be part of this fabulous project and the bringing together of such different musical genres: the great talent of Julian Clark and ‘Love Street’, the pure genius of Darrol Barry and ourselves. It's such a great honour to work with them all."
The song ‘Susanna’ is going to be included on Love Street’s second EP scheduled for release in October.
