The Blue Coat School Brass Band, Oldham has announced that they are to feature in the prestigious Music for Youth Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in London later this year.
Raising the roof
The band will be raising the roof on the final proms night in November with a performance of ‘Horizons’ by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, followed by the xylophone olo, ‘Helter Skelter’ featuring principal percussionist, Richard Blythe.

Fantastic achievement
MD and Head of Music Neil Hewson told 4BR: “This is a fantastic achievement for our young musicians, and it will be the first time that the band has performed at the Royal Albert Hall."
Neil added: "We were very proud to receive the Performance Practice award in the School Band category in the NFMY finals at Symphony Hall in Birmingham in July, but to be invited to perform in probably the greatest music venue in Europe, is amazing.
