Newly crowned Victorian champion cornet player, Jamie Lawson, has been invited to become Geneva Instruments first Australian brass performance artist.
Leading
A 2013 recipient of the Adrienne, Lady Stewart Performance Bursary, Jamie is currently principal cornet of the leading Footscray Yarraville Band and a member of National Australia Brass since its inception in 2008.
In addition the talented musician is also a cornet tutor of the National Australia Brass Youth Band and a highly respected brass tutor contributing to the Academy Mentor Programme linked with the educational work of the National Australia Brass Academy.
Proud
Jamie told 4BR: "To receive an email from the Director of Geneva Instruments, Tim Oldroyd, inviting me to join the Geneva Instruments Performance Artist team is a great honour of which I am extremely proud.
The craftsmanship and design of the brass range of Geneva’s instruments is exceptional and I have never been more fulfilled in my playing than I am with the new Geneva Symphony cornet."
Excited
He added: "I am also excited to be promoting and supporting the work of Geneva Brass Australasia both as an artist and endorsee of Geneva Instruments."
