The wonderful response by players and supporters to the 2014 Butlins Mineworkers Championship ‘Brass for Mbale’ appeal has ensured that children in the African region have been able to learn to play on brass band instruments.
Wonderful response
Event organiser Steve Walker told 4BR: "It has been a wonderful response — which has produced even more wonderful results, so our thanks go to everyone concerned."
He added: "For the next festival in 2015 we are asking if all our competing bands could donate an instrument to our appeal to keep the great work going.
Even a battered old rusty cornet or euphonium that nobody wants can be found a brilliant new life and a player who will cherish it!"
