The funeral service for former Halle Orchestra trombonist and Black Dyke Band conductor David Loukes has taken place in Cornwall.
Such was the popularity of the highly respected musician that there was standing room only at the Treswithian Downs Crematorium in Camborne.
Music
Prior to the service a band of over 30 musicians played a selection of music, including arrangements by David, under the baton of Aaron Harvey, MD of the St Austell Band. For the committal the band played ‘A Special Place’ by David’s friend and former colleague, Goff Richards.
Players came from Camborne, Cornwall Youth, Gweek, Heyl, Porthleven, Redruth, St Austell, St Dennis and St Keverne to perform alongside many individuals and former pupils of David, including one from the Royal Marines.
