East Yorkshire Motor Services Band will be featured on national television this Friday (August 8th), in the latest episode of the enjoyable Channel 5 ‘fly on the wall’ documentary ‘On the Yorkshire Buses’.
Daily trials
The series charts the daily commercial trials and tribulations of the EYMS Bus Company and its employees as they compete against rivals in the north of England.
Filming was undertaken last year, and in part five of the series, which airs at 8.00pm, the cameras take in the annual ‘Big Bus Day’ at the Streetlife Museum in Hull, featuring the band performing.
Enduring sponsorships
In one of the most enduring brass band sponsorship collaborations, the company this year celebrates 22 years of sponsoring the band, which changed to its current name from the City of Hull in 1992 to recognise the support from the EYMS Group.
The band is no stranger to television appearances, having been seen live around the sporting world when it played the national anthems and other patriotic music before England defeated New Zealand in the Rugby League Four Nations series at the KC Stadium in Hull in 2011.

National appearance
In October the band will once again proudly represent its sponsor’s name at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall, whilst this year’s ‘Big Bus Day’ takes place on Saturday, August 30th, when they will again be providing music.
