Brighouse set for Youth Day

Young players wishing to be a part of the new Brighouse & Rastrick Youth Band set up can get first hand experience at free Open Day.

Brighouse & Rastrick is getting ready to offer a warm welcome to local brass and percussion players on what promises to be an exciting Youth Music Open Day at the band’s famous headquarters on Saturday 30th August.

Free event

The free event (including refreshments) will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm and will see youngsters part in band rehearsals and sectionals under the expert tutelage of ‘B&R’s’ star players.

Stars

The overall ensemble will be conducted by the band’s youth MD, Dean Redfern, with the cornet section led by co-principal Mike Golding and tenor horns led by Sheona White.

David Thornton will be on hand to help the euphoniums and baritones, Ryan Watkins will oversee the trombones, Andrew Cattanach taking the basses and the percussionists benefitting from the players of the B&R percussion section.

Concert

The day will culminate in concert given by the tutors, followed by a free concert for parents.

Minimum grade requirement: Grade 2
