The FT index recognises banding innovation

An on-line article in the Financial Times has shone a positive light on the innovative partnerships between well known artists and brass bands.

British Sea Power

An enlightening article recently featured in the on-line edition of the Financial Times has shown that brass bands can be portrayed in a very positive way by national media journalists who combine knowledge and rigour to sweep away lazy stereotypes in their reporting of the banding movement in the UK.

Innovative approaches

In his article entitled, ‘Second Wind for Brass’ author Richard Clayton looked at the innovative approaches and partnerships that have been developed between high profile artists such as Brighton-based indie outfit British Sea Power (above) and Turner Prize-winning visual artist Jeremy Deller, in working with the NASUWT Riverside and Fairey Bands respectively.

Positivity

The article shines a light of positivity on the artist's approach and attitude towards brass bands and the ability they believe they have as a genre to enhance their own artistic endeavours such as the upcoming 'Sea of Brass’ project and Acid Brass concerts.
