Open parts and score ready for bands

The new set of parts and score for 'Vita Aeterna Variations' will be ready for first class posting to bands in the next 24 hours.

The British Open Championship organisers have informed 4BR that the new score and parts for the 2014 test piece, ‘Vita Aeterna Variations’ by Alexander Comitas, will be ready to be posted first class to the competing bands on Wednesday morning (16th July).

Pick up

If any bands wish to make arrangements to pick up the work in person from contest controller Frank Hodges (details below), then they are requested to contact him as soon as possible.

Grateful

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are grateful to Kirklees Music for enabling us to get the work ready to send to the bands.

The new score and parts will be posted first class to our band contacts as soon as possible, but if any band wishes to obtain them in person, please contact us immediately."

The organisers also announced that supporters can now get tickets for the event by clicking on a new British Open banner on the Articles page of the 4Barsrest website: http://www.4barsrest.com/articles/

Test piece preview

Supporters will also get the opportunity to hear 'Vita Aeterna Variations' performed by the reigning British Open champion Tredegar in a pre-contest concert at the Adrian Boult Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire on Friday 5th September:

February 10 • Linthwaite are a friendly 4th section band looking forward to the Yorkshire area contest in March, following on from that we will have a vacancy for a 2nd cornet. We also have various contests and engagements coming up through the year to keep us busy.

February 5 • Wantage Band (championship section) has a vacancy for TOP 2ND CORNET. This would suit a player with experience in a championship/first section band. Rehearsals take place every Sun 7:30pm and Wed 8pm in Wantage with highly experienced MD Chris King.
