St Pinnock remembers fortunate village

A wonderful story from the Great War has been brought to life with the help of St Pinnock Band.

St Pinnock

The St. Pinnock Band has recently been performing at the Sterts Theatre on the edge of Bodmin Moor in a new play, entitled, ‘Third Light’, based on the story of the so called ‘fortunate’ Cornish village of Herodsfoot, where all its men returned home from fighting in the First World War.

Memories

The St. Pinnock Band was initially formed from men from the villages of Herodsfoot and St. Pinnock who worked in local mines and gunpowder factories, with the story recalled through the memories of a cornet player who went to Europe to fight and was lucky to return.

It is a wonderful, emotional story which has really made an impactChris Luckhurst

Wonderful story

Chris Luckhurst of St Pinnock Band told 4BR: "It is a wonderful, emotional story which has really made an impact. The play is now being taken up by other groups around the country so bands may be asked to take on a role.

If offered the chance, take it, as it’s a genuinely wonderful opportunity."
