The Longridge Band recently performed their annual ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert under the baton of MD Mark Peacock, with a programme of music to celebrate famous events that had taken place in history during the month of July.
Awards
During the concert, two awards, chosen by the MD were presented to members of the band, with the Hilda Marle Collis Trophy presented to the trombone section of Sue Newby, Tim Bateman and Rob Conlon.
The Mike Cotter award went to the most improved player, solo euphonium Jacob Smith, who has been a member of the band for just over a year, and has made excellent solo contributions in both concerts and contests.

Wonderful concert
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a wonderful concert, and we were pleased to be joined once again by soprano soloist Louise Coupe who sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, and then led the singing in the finale items of 'Jerusalem', 'Fantasia on British Sea Songs' and 'Pomp and Circumstance No. 1."
