Delegates set for Withington innovation

A dozen delegates from all over Europe will be teaming up with Allan Withington for his latest innovative Conductor's Course.

Conductors

Aspiring conductors from all over Europe will be meeting up in Sandbach this weekend for the start of a week of intensive tutoring as part of Allan Withington’s annual Conductors Summer School.

Theme

Hosted by Foden’s Band, the 12 delegates will work alongside the renowned conductor on another of his innovative courses, which this year culminates with a ‘Poms at the School’ themed concert at Sandbach Boys School on Thursday 3rd July.

For the last five years Allan’s course has taken place in Leeuwarden, with innovative themes connecting the music performed with a fashion show, water links and even a bit of jail time (above last year)!

Concerts

This year the course comes to Sandbach, with delegates able to work not only with the Foden’s but also with the Roberts Bakery Band, whilst other events include a free outdoor lunch time concert in Sandbach Town Centre on Tuesday 1st July.

As always, innovation is the key, with Irish dancers taking part and the inclusion this year of Danish media expert, Mette Højen, whose lectures will concentrate on the role of the conductor in leadership and the psychology of musical communication4BR
