Brighouse set for weekend of music making

There is sure to be a great weekend of contest and concert music making in the iconic banding village of Brighouse this weekend.

bRIGHOUSE MARCH

One of the most popular ‘march & hymn tune’ contests will take place in the iconic brass banding village of Brighouse this weekend (28th/29th June)

March & Hymn tune

The 15th Brighouse Lions Festival will see 26 bands take part in the contest itself, with the wonderful ladies from Boobs & Brass entertaining the crowds during Sunday afternoon after providing the Saturday evening concert under the baton of Stan Lippeatt.

The first band marches off on Sunday at 1.00pm in search of claiming part of the generous £2,000 prize pot, whilst principal cornet players will surely want to get their hands on the Geneva Symphony cornet, donated by Geneva Instruments for the best top man or woman on the day!

Voice of Brighouse

The adjudicators this year are Derek Broadbent, Pascal Eicher and Chris Jeans, whilst Fred Etherington, ‘The Voice of Brighouse’, will once again act as the genial compere, although it will be his final appearance at the event he has graced since 2000.

Visitors

Aussie visitors, Alan and Helen Lashmar, both former members of the Australian champions Brisbane Excelsior Band will be the welcome guests at the weekend, whilst the contest will provide an equally warm welcome for visitors from Queensbury to Queensland!
