Box Hill City has become Australia’s newest A Grade Band following the decision on their promotion to the elite level made by the Victorian Bands' League.
Success
It comes after the band has enjoyed an unprecedented run of dominant B Grade contesting success over the past 12 months under the baton of Dr. Matthew van Emmerik.
125 years
Founded in the state of Victoria in 1889, the Box Hill City Band organisation also encompasses a brace of stage bands and a concert bands, but it has been the success of the senior brass band which has created such an impression, attracting players of the quality of former Grimethorpe Colliery solo baritone, Michael Wells, to play solo euphonium with them.
Celebration
A spokesperson told 4BR: "This announcement couldn't have come at a better time as we approach our 125th anniversary celebration concert on July 6th, and work towards the A Grade Victorian State Championships on August 17th."
