The combined forces of the National and British Open champions, Cory and Tredegar are to join together for a great cause in Cardiff later this month.

Welsh Trophies

The number 1 & 2 ranked bands in the world will be combining forces for a wonderful charitable cause in Cardiff this month.

Afternoon concert

National champions Cory and British Open winners Tredegar will be presenting a special afternoon concert on Sunday 22nd June at the Dora Stoutzker Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to help raise funds for Velindre Cancer Care.

Both bands are looking forward to occasion, with conductors Philip Harper and Ian Porthouse promising that there will be plenty of great music to enjoy. The event will be hosted by BBC broadcaster Beverley Humphreys.

Great cause

Band Chairmen Austin Davies and Alwyn Powell told 4BR that the concert has provided the Welsh champions with a unique opportunity to help a great cause.

“The two bands have busy concert schedules, but when the initial idea arose we both jumped at the chance,” Austin said.

“Both bands enjoy great support from the Welsh public and this is an ideal opportunity to show off and enjoy ourselves with the added bonus of raising the roof with a couple of brilliant combined finales!”

Join forces

Alwyn agreed: "To be able to join forces for such a wonderful charity was too good an opportunity to miss out on.

I’m sure everyone will get to enjoy two superb bands on top form, and we are both delighted that we are able to help Velindre Cancer Care in this way."
