The draw for the 38th Brass in Concert Championship will be made at the Sage Gateshead concert hall on June 27th by Anthony Sargent and Ros Rigby, the venue’s General Director and Programme Performance Director.
10th anniversary
2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the contest moving to the iconic building, one that has helped develop it into becoming the leading entertainment competition in the banding world.
As well as the usual Sunday attraction of the contest on November 16th, which this year includes two overseas contenders in Brass Band Schoonhoven from the Netherlands and the Brass Band of Central Florida from the USA, the two day festival will include taster sessions and workshops and performances by the reigning Youth Entertainment Brass Band Champions of Great Britain, Seindorf Beaumaris Youth Band.
The Saturday evening Gala Concert will feature Grimethorpe and the reigning Brass in Concert champions, Cory.
Millions
With audience support from all over the world making their way to Gateshead each year to enjoy the world class musical entertainment, it has been estimated that the championship has brought in around £3 million on inward investment to the region.
