New Blidworth trio join the ranks

Three new players give Blidworth a boost ahead of National challenges.

Blidworth Welfare Band has welcomed a trio of new players to its ranks.

Malcolm Portman comes in on solo trombone, percussionist David Dernley has re-joined and Phillip White comes in on the front row cornet bench.

Band spokesperson Samantha Turner told 4BR: "With the band looking forward to the National Finals in September and joining the Championship Section in January 2015, these signings give us a huge boost."

Goodbye

On a sadder note the band said goodbye to cornet player Andy Slack who has retired from playing.

Samantha added: "We wish Andy all the best and look forward to seeing him at future band engagements."
