The reigning BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award winner, Matilda Lloyd wasn't able to add the Young Musician of the Year to her CV last weekend.
Brass success
The 18 year old trumpeter from Tonbridge did it make through to the semi final after being victorious in the Brass final which was transmitted across the BBC network on Friday 16th May.
Twenty four hours later, the student who plays in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, was featured competing against the four winners of the Keyboard, Percussion, Strings and Woodwind categories in a programme that was recorded in March.
No finals berth
Having reached the final five and despite giving an accomplished performance, Matilda missed out on a place in the final at Usher Hall in Edinburgh which took place last Sunday.
This year's winner was seventeen year old pianist, Martin James Bartlett who delivered a fabulous performance of Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini in the final.
Matilda Lloyd may not have been crowned BBC Young Musician of the Year, but 2014 will be one that the talented musician can look back on with pride 4BR
