Stalybridge Old Band has announced that they are delighted to have been able to secure the services of the vastly experienced David W Ashworth to lead them on their appearances at the forthcoming Whit Friday contests.

The band will be out on the Tameside area circuit and hope to be able to boost their coffers with the generous prizes on offer around the various contest venues.

A band spokesman told 4BR: "David has a remarkable record at the Whit Friday contests and we hope it continues with us this year.

He has a fantastic approach to banding and we are thoroughly enjoying working with him.”
