The Whitburn Band has informed 4BR that they have regretfully accepted the resignation of Musical Director Anne Crookston, who has taken the decision to move on from the role after three highly successful three years at the helm of the 17-time Scottish Champion.
Right time
Anne (leading Whitburn at Brass in Concert in 2013 above) commented that she felt that the time was right to seek new challenges.
"Working with the band, as well as with conductors Erik Janssen and Ian Porthouse over the past few years has been a fabulous journey and we have enjoyed some terrific performances together in that time.
However, I feel that now is the correct time to move on to the next chapter of my brass band career, and I wish Whitburn every future success."
Sad
Whitburn President David Kinross added: "Whilst sad to lose Anne, we understand the reasons for her decision.
Our preference is to engage guest conductors for major contests and it's only natural that she wants an opportunity to conduct at these events herself. The preparatory work Anne has done for us over the last few years has been fantastic and we wish her all the very best in her career."

Skipsey beat
Whitburn now turns its attention to defending the West Lothian Festival of Brass title on the 8th of June, when they will be conducted by City of Bradford and Newtongrange MD, Lee Skipsey.
