The British Open Championship has announced that a comprehensive list of errata, with additional pages of the amended score have been published on their website for the 2014 Championship set work, ‘Vita Aeterna Variations’ by Alexander Comitas.
Apology
Composer Ed de Boer (above) has apologised for the inconvenience this will have caused bands at this early stage of their rehearsal schedules.
He told the British Open organisers: "In the score of my ‘Vita Aeterna Variations’ there are a number of errors.
Actually, there are quite a lot and I am sorry for this.
In my case, composing under time pressure can be quite OK for the quality of the music, but can lead to more errors in the score than desirable. That this was the case in this particular score became clear to me during the process of transcribing of the piece for symphony orchestra.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you. I hope you will see the positive side to this: the music will now sound (even) better than before.”
