A new initiative to promote the growth of brass banding in East Anglia have been unveiled.
The East Anglian Youth Brass Band hopes to introduce banding to a new generation in the region, with preparations for a September launch already underway.
Help
Formed by teacher Heather Armsby, a dedicated bandroom is already being built, with the wider local community having been invited to contribute to practical costs (stands, music, etc.) through an innovative crowdfunding appeal.
The Yimby community crowdfunding initiative gives anyone the ability to fund a project they care about, with a 30 day online support window for people to contribute funds.
Excited
Yimby’s Community Manager Kate Eggleshaw grew up in playing in brass bands, and told 4BR: "Crowdfunding allows any organisation to connect with the community it serves. Since starting work on Yimby I’ve been really excited about the potential impact the tool could have for brass bands."

Love of banding
Kate added: "By reaching out to those they’ll hopefully support, and those who share their love of banding, the East Anglian Youth Band is ensuring their own longevity by launching as an organisation for, and directly supported by the community."
