Report & Results: 2014 Elland Slow Melody, Quartet & Duet

Thee was a great display of playing talent both young and old at Elland Silver Band's 25th anniversary contest day.

The Elland Silver Band’s 25th anniversary Slow Melody, Quartet & Duet contest was recently held at their band room headquarters, where adjudicator John Doyle and a supportive audience enjoyed a host of top class performances.

Great day

At the end of the event, John remarked that it had been ‘a great day’ — something shown by the comments he made about the playing he heard in each of the sections, with a special mention to the encouraging number of good young tuba and trombone players that were on display.

At the other end of the age spectrum, the highest mark awarded to an Elland player throughout the contest day went to John Dale who plays with Elland Training Band — who is well into his 70s!
